The Polynesian Cultural Center (PCC) is a popular cultural attraction and living museum located in Laie, Hawaii, on the island of Oahu. It was established in 1963 to preserve and celebrate the diverse cultures of Polynesia while also supporting students of Brigham Young University–Hawaii.
The PCC spans 42 acres and features six immersive villages, each representing a different Polynesian culture: Hawaii, Samoa, Tonga, Fiji, Tahiti, and Aotearoa (New Zealand). Visitors can experience traditional performances, interactive activities, and demonstrations such as fire dancing, canoe rides, tattooing, hula, and luau feasts.
One of its most famous events is the “Ha: Breath of Life” evening show, a large-scale theatrical production showcasing Polynesian history and storytelling through music, dance, and fire performances.
The center is nonprofit, with much of its revenue going toward funding education for students at BYU–Hawaii. It provides an enriching and entertaining way to learn about the vibrant cultures of the Pacific Islands.
