a year of play: montessori-inspired monthly shelves
lots of ideas for monthly play shelf themes (ages 3-5), designed to follow the turning of the seasons. the focus in my house is on nature, imagination, and open-ended exploration so we can build our independent play skills. i love natural materials and you'll find a lot of that here, but i'm not above a little plastic here and there. the most important thing is creating a set-up that invites my kid to slow down, explore, and play.
