I recently started my loc journey and I wanted to share with you some of the products I'm using to maintain my starter DIY Micro locs.
I use lavender water in combination with vitamin e oil to moisturize my Locs. I found this while looking for a replacement for rosewater as I am allergic to roses.
Heritage Store Lavender Water
I typically add in a spray bottle half Lavender / or rose water and half vitamin e oil to moisturize my Locs. It smells great and my Locs feel super soft.
Vitamin E Oil For Hair
Before I wash my Locs I like to use this clarifying rinse. It breaks up any build up on my scalp and preps my locs for washing.
I have also used this as a cleanser for my Locs. It definitely gets my Locs super clean and removes all build up from my scalp. It is super cleansing so you don't want to get this in your eye. Or wash too often with this.

If you are planning on interlocking your locs I would recommend this tool. There are multiple sizes I have the super small one for my microlocs. It does come with a bag which is super helpful because it is super tiny.

I also recommend micro fiber towels that come as a turban with a button. It makes it super easy for me to allow my hair to dry in the towel without worrying about it falling off. I also use these when I am doing a hot oil treatment or steaming my loc...

Loc Tools For Dreads
In order to prevent lint and fly aways especially in the starter loc phase I do recommend to tie your hair up every night and also when you are just lounging around. I like to use a scarf and a bonnet because my hair is long.
Mulberry Silk Scarf
As a part of loc maintenance it is a best practice to protect your locs.
Bonnet For Locs
I still recommend this deep cleaning shampoo by design essentials. I feel like it gets my hair and scalp clean but doesn't dry it out.

I like to use this oil around my edges and throughout my head. It's very light and hydrating.
Scalp Care Edge & Temple Strengthening Oil - Design Essentials
I love this leave in treatment if my scalp is itchy. It is very hydrating and also this product has lots of slip which can help me separate any roots merging together. I like to use it as a pre-poo before wash day.
