Day # 1 Airport to Anacortes via Whidbey Island
We drove from the airport to the ferry. Arrived on the half hour and were able to drive right on for a quick 20 minute ride across to Whidbey Island.

The Naan Stop
A simple condo room with basic kitchen amenities near Cascade Lake. We settled in for another early night. Our balcony door was open and we heard sounds from the creek that made lovely white noise.

We took a side trail up from Rosario RD where we were staying. It included walking alone a creek and a small waterfall. Beautiful day, a bit rainy at times around the lake. The more scenic side is opposite the day use area.

Day # 4 Orcas Island to Port Angeles via Port Townsend Ferry
Stopped back by the Orcas Hotel cafe for a cup of coffee on our way out of town in the AM. We were able to walk down after we parked our car in the ferry line.

We boarded the 8:55 ferry which was right on time. A brief stop at the quaint Shaw Island and then off to the mainland.

Deception Pass Bridge & State Park
We arrived when they opened at 11:30 in the quaint town of Coupeville. Got a window seat overlooking the bay and delicious fresh local mussels.
Service was fast and good. We would’ve loved to linger, but were off to catch the next ferry.

We grabbed the 1:15 ferry to Four Townsend from the Coupeville ferry terminal. Several Orcas spotted in the distance on this slightly choppy ride across the sound to the Olympic Peninsula.

Day # 6 Port Angeles to Graham.
Today was a moving day. We made the 3 hour drive from Port Angeles to Graham, Washington. We traveled the scenic 101 along the east side of the Olympic Peninsula.

On our drive, we stopped and hiked the 6 mile in and out lower Lena Lake trail. Beautiful lake view at the end, would be a fun place to camp.

The trail was icy. Fine with poles and boots. We opted not to go to the base of the falls and viewed it from up top. This would be an easy hike down in the summer.

We stopped at the Iron goat restaurant area to stretch our legs. There were hiking trails here and we realized that there was an Old Cascade road scenic byway. We took it back down the mountain, but probably would’ve been even prettier on the way up....

One of our favorite stops of the day. The water in the lake was so still and reflective. The views were amazing. So calm and peaceful. Discovery pass required, but on this weekday in May no one was checking.
Lake Wenatchee State Park
Around noon we were to the town of Leavenworth. We explored around here for an hour, visiting some of the shops. There was a student orchestra playing in the park. This town is known for its Bavarian style and multiple festivals.

While in Leavenworth we stopped at the gingerbread factory for a latte and a cookie. Both were amazing and the vibes in this place were magical. Definitely recommend the ginger snap cookies!

After viewing Ross Dam from the overlook, we took the Ross Dam trail 1 mile down to enjoy an evening walk on the dam. It was a good quick workout with a steady climb up and out. Felt good to be walking after a day of travel.

Day # 9 Mount Baker & Bellingham
Started my day with a cup of coffee and bagel sandwich from the coffee drive through next to our Airbnb. Great coffee and great prices.

It’s just a short walk from the parking lot and a short drive on a gravel road. We enjoyed the drive and there was a lot of water coming down the falls.

We parked at the end of Semiahoon park and walked the public paths around the point of Semiahoo resort. Beautiful views of the sound between USA & Canada. We were able to see the Vancouver skyline.

We stopped here for a restful break to sit in a picnic area beside the lake. Lots of kayak, paddle boarding on the lake with rentals available. Again it was crowded so we just sat and enjoyed the warm sunny day.

We got a very affordable rental here through Hotwire. Our compact SUV was a 2025 Toyota RAV 4 which drove beautifully in the mountains and got great gas mileage. Pick up and drop off were easy and we caught a shuttle to the airport.
