Starting heavy is how you hurt yourself and quit by Tuesday. These are light enough to forget you're wearing them while you vacuum, which is exactly the point.

After about six weeks I couldn't feel the light ones anymore. Bumping up to 10 lbs while folding laundry made my quads burn like I'd done squats.

Some mornings I loop a band around my ankles on top of the weights and do side steps while brushing my teeth. Sounds ridiculous, looks ridiculous, but my hip dips filled in.

Nobody warns you that the wrong socks under ankle weights will give you blisters faster than new shoes. Learned this the painful way during a three-hour cleaning marathon.

Sometimes I take a five-minute break from cleaning, drop to the floor with my weights still on, and knock out some leg lifts. Having a mat already rolled out in the living room removes the excuse.

Wearing ankle weights while mopping made me sweat more than I expected. I kept getting lightheaded until I started keeping a bottle in every room like a weirdo.

First time I wore 10 lb ankle weights while reorganizing my closet, my calves seized up at 2am. A foam roller next to the bed saved me from hobbling to work the next day.

Pair these with ankle weights during commercials or between chores. Sliding lunges on a kitchen floor with weights on is sneaky brutal and takes 90 seconds.

After a month of daily weighted chores my left ankle started aching. A compression sleeve underneath the weight strap fixed it overnight. Don't skip this if your joints are already cranky.
