Everyone says ‘walk down Main Street’ like that's helpful. Here are the specific spots that made me stop, pull out my phone, and text someone about it.

I ate at three places in one visit because I have no self-control. These are the ones I'd actually go back to, not the ones that just had good signage.

You can't walk through Adelaide Hills without tasting something fermented. I tried to be restrained and failed spectacularly, but at least I failed at good places.

After eating my body weight in schnitzel, I needed to move. These trails start close to town and don't require hiking boots or athletic ambition.

Most of Main Street sells something, but a lot of it is forgettable. These are the shops where I actually spent money and didn't feel weird about it later.

Hahndorf is the oldest surviving German settlement in Australia and it actually feels like it. These spots gave me context I didn't know I wanted.

Nobody told me these things before my first trip and I wasted time figuring them out the hard way. Hopefully you won't have to.
