I tested maybe eight brands before landing on the ones that hold their texture in a pressure cooker without turning to mush. These are the oats that actually taste like something.

Not every pressure cooker handles oats the same way. Some scorch the bottom, some don't seal right. These are the ones I've personally used or tested at friends' places that get it right.

Plain steel cut oats are fine, but I got bored by day three. These mix-ins are what made me actually look forward to breakfast instead of treating it like a chore.

Brown sugar was my default for years until I realized there were options that tasted better and didn't spike my energy at 9 AM just to crash by 10:30.

My biggest complaint about oatmeal used to be that I was starving again by 10 AM. Adding protein fixed that completely. These are the toppings that turned breakfast into actual fuel.

Sunday batch cooking changed everything. I make one big pot of steel cut oats and portion it out for the whole week. Mornings went from 10 minutes to 90 seconds of reheating.

Little upgrades to the setup made a bigger difference than I expected. A better sealing ring, a decent trivet, a silicone spatula. Small stuff that removed every remaining excuse not to make oats.
