My arches basically don't exist. Most shoes marketed as ‘supportive’ felt like walking on plywood. These are the ones that finally made my feet stop aching after 20 minutes.

Some of my favorite shoes had zero arch support. Instead of replacing them all, I started dropping insoles in. A few of these literally saved pairs I was about to donate.

Summer almost wrecked my progress because I kept reaching for flat sandals. Finding supportive sandals that don't look orthopedic took way too long, but these passed the test.

Nobody told me socks could make this much difference. My calves used to feel like concrete blocks after a 5K walk. Compression socks fixed that problem faster than stretching ever did.

Walking 3 to 5 miles a day catches up with you if you skip recovery. My feet and calves were constantly sore until I started spending 10 minutes on these after every walk.

Rain and cold used to be my excuse to skip walks entirely. Once I got the right layers and visibility gear, bad weather became a minor inconvenience instead of a dealbreaker.

Accountability is what kept me walking when the novelty wore off. Around week three I almost quit, but tracking my progress and seeing real numbers pulled me back in.
