I used to flip my pillow every 90 seconds looking for the cool side. Went through four pillows in one year before landing on ones that actually let me stay still.

Street lights were turning my bedroom into a parking lot every night. The second I blocked that out, falling asleep went from 45 minutes to about 10.

My brain latches onto every tiny sound — the fridge humming, a car door three blocks away. White noise gave my brain something boring to focus on instead of hunting for noises.

Tried a bunch of sleep supplements that either did nothing or made me feel like a zombie until noon. These three actually helped me feel drowsy at the right time without the hangover.

Sounded gimmicky to me until I tried one during a particularly bad stretch of anxiety-fueled insomnia. Felt like someone was gently holding me down and my racing thoughts actually slowed.

I knew scrolling my phone in bed was bad but I wasn't going to stop. These were my compromise, and honestly my eyes stopped feeling like sandpaper by bedtime.

Most “sleepy teas” tasted like hot lawn clippings and did absolutely nothing. These three genuinely made my eyelids heavy within about 30 minutes.

Spraying lavender on my pillow did nothing. But filling the whole room with a slow diffused scent for 30 minutes before bed created this Pavlovian drowsiness I didn't expect.

Buying a new mattress wasn't in the budget. A good topper turned my too-firm mattress into something I actually looked forward to lying on instead of dreading.

Renting meant I couldn't install proper curtain rods in every room. A sleep mask was the portable solution that traveled with me everywhere — hotels, planes, my in-laws' guest room with those useless sheer curtains.

Writing down tomorrow's to-do list before bed sounds annoyingly simple but it emptied my brain enough to stop the 1 AM mental spirals about forgetting to email someone back.
