I returned two pools before I found ones that either fill with a garden hose or inflate crazy fast. My kids were swimming in under ten minutes and I still had energy left to supervise.

Some pools still need a little air in that top ring. These are what I keep in the garage so I never have to use my lungs again.

First summer I skipped this step and ended up with a dead grass rectangle that looked like a crime scene. Learned that lesson exactly once.

Sunburned kids on day one was a wake-up call. Now the pool area has shade and I'm not reapplying sunscreen every twenty minutes like a human assembly line.

Bought a bag of dollar-store pool toys once and every single one was flat by lunchtime. These are the ones that lasted our entire summer without a single patch.

Day four of our first pool, the water looked like swamp juice. Nobody warns you about this part. Now I spend five minutes a day and the water stays clear all week.

Wet kids running into the kitchen every ten minutes was destroying my floors and my sanity. Moving the snack station outside fixed everything.

Wet towels everywhere, puddles across the patio, grass clippings tracked inside — the after-pool mess was almost worse than the setup. These fixed the whole routine.

September rolled around and I had no plan for where to put a deflated pool, a pump, and forty pool toys. Spent one afternoon organizing and now everything fits in the garage corner.
