Every flat surface I owned became a paper graveyard. Receipts, sticky notes, random cables — all just sitting there mocking me. These three things gave everything a home in about ten minutes.

Spent eight months blaming my pillow for my neck aches before realizing I was looking down at my screen all day like a sad turtle. Raising my monitor changed everything within a week.

Was getting headaches every afternoon and blamed caffeine withdrawal for months. Turned out my overhead fluorescent was basically torturing my eyeballs. Proper desk lighting was the fix I never saw coming.

My wrists were aching by Thursday every week and I kept buying wrist rests like band-aids. Turns out the actual keyboard and mouse were the problem the whole time.

Nothing killed my focus faster than looking down and seeing a rat's nest of cables under my desk. Cleaned it all up in one Saturday afternoon and honestly felt like I moved into a new office.

Working from the kitchen table while someone watches TV ten feet away was slowly destroying my ability to think. Blocking out noise was the single biggest productivity unlock after the desk itself.

Read somewhere that looking at greenery reduces stress and figured it was nonsense. Added one plant, then two, then three — and honestly my desk went from depressing to somewhere I actually want to sit.

Was working directly on a scratched-up IKEA tabletop for two years before I put a desk mat down. Sounds minor but the tactile difference made my whole workspace feel intentional instead of accidental.

These are the things I almost didn't buy because they seemed too minor to matter. Every single one proved me wrong within the first day.
