This is my current reading list which I will update with reviews as I go. It's a great way to keep track of and share the numerous books I read.
Currently reading. I've read the whole Holmes & Russell series and love them. I'm about 30% through this one at the moment.
The Lantern's Dance (Mary Russell and Sherlock Holmes Series #18) - Laurie R King
Just finished #3 in the Empyrean series… and contrary to what I expected, I can't wait for #4. The stories are dark and violent but they are fast paced. I got a little wary of the romance part as the characters have stopped developping in that area o...
Onyx Storm - Rebecca Yarros
#2 in the Empyrean series, which I've finished a couple of weeks ago. I was afraid that the plots were going to stall but that didn't happen. I like that something new happens all the time. The romance is getting a bit repetitive though.
Iron Flame| Rebecca Yarros
#1 in the Empyrean series. Typical dark young adult kind of story, with a lot of death and violence but a sort of young enthusiasm which compensates for it. It is fast-paced and the story is intricate enough to catch my attention. The romance part ad...
Fourth Wing| Rebecca Yarros
Surprisingly good. Amateur detectives in the shape of good society spinsters in the Regency period. I can't wait for the second one, which isn't out yet.
The Benevolent Society of Ill-Mannered Ladies| Alison Goodman
I've read the Lady Helen series in full this year. This is #1, which got me hooked. I didn't know what to expect, it began as a more or less standard Regency romance but then quickly veered into the fantasy genre. Interesting plot and characters.
The Dark Days Club (Lady Helen Trilogy Series #1)| Alison Goodman
#2 in the Lady Helen series. The story develops well, with a few plot twists. It is dark though.
The Dark Days Pact (Lady Helen Trilogy Series #2)| Alison Goodman
#3 and final book in the Lady Helen trilogy. Fast paced and as dark as the others. Shall I say that I knew who the villain was almost from the start? Even probably since the previous book.
The Dark Days Deceit (Lady Helen Trilogy Series #3)| Alison Goodman
Fascinating thriller with a sci-fi element. I did wonder how it was going to end and for once didn't see that ending coming, which is a good thing.
Dark Matter - Blake Crouch
I've loved the Thursday Murder Club series so I was waiting with impatience for Osman's new book. I have to say that it didn't grip me as much as the previous ones although it's still good. I though the characters were a little more simplistic, maybe...
We Solve Murders - Richard Osman
The latest Gamache installment. I loved it but while I was reading it, I was wondering if the plot of governement officials trying to destabilize the country to take over was a little far fetched. Then real life caught up…
The Grey Wolf (Chief Inspector Gamache Series #19)| Louise Penny
I started on this one after reading another Kate Quinn that I loved. I have to admit I haven't finished it yet, mostly because I find the main character not likeable.
Mistress of Rome (Empress of Rome Series #1)| Kate Quinn
That was my first Kate Quinn read. It wasn't obvious from the start where the story was going. It felt like an atmospheric portrait of a group of women sharing a house but in reality there is more than that to the story. I loved the ending.
The Briar Club - Kate Quinn
The story of a girl fighting for her ideas and an independant life in 19th century America. Well written and surprisingly fascinating.
The Indigo Girl - Natasha Boyd
Not my favorite romance to be honest. A little simplistic both in plot and characters.
