You can put packing paper and cardboard into a paper shredder to make your own livestock bedding.

I also raise rabbits. They run around with the goats when I'm in the barn. During the summer they get to dig dens in an outside kennel

I prefer live traps for any critters that could contaminate the livestock feed. This little trap works well. I've caught deer mice and ground squirrels in it.
