Paper guest books kept getting shoved in a drawer. When I held a wooden one for the first time at a friend's reception, I knew I wanted something that could sit on a coffee table permanently.

Half our regular guest book was illegible signatures. Switching to a photo format meant we actually remember who wrote what, because their face is right there next to the message.

We almost bought a traditional book before realizing it would live in a box forever. A canvas guest book hangs on our hallway wall right now, and I read the signatures every time I walk past.

My parents had a leather-bound guest book from their wedding in 1985 and it still looks amazing. Something about leather just ages well, which is exactly what you want for a keepsake.

Not everyone wants a book at all, and that's fine. Some of the most memorable sign-in setups I've seen at weddings weren't books. They were puzzles, records, and globes people couldn't stop talking about.
