San Juan Capistrano is home to my favorite mission in California (there are 21 in total). The food in SJC is good, the shopping is great, and the vibe of an old farming community is alive and well. Welcome to my favorite Cali city.

For such a small town center the food is truly incredible.
Relaxed but elevated. Good food located right next to the Amtrak station. Ride down on the weekend or better yet a Friday night for some live music.
Five Vines Wine Bar
Ramos House easily wins the “most charming” location in San Juan Capistrano. Food is great and portions are large.
The Ramos House Café
A true farm to table experience. Pick berries, shop the farm stand, take a yoga class in the dome, or do a free bird watching tour. A little slice of hippie heaven.
The Ecology Center
Espresso rubbed pork… I'm drooling.
Nom
The absolute yummiest coffee inside a 120 year old house. The baristas are sweet as heck and the pastries sell out because they are DELICIOUS.

Things to Do
Walk down Los Rios Street and maybe catch a glimpse of horses walking by!
Grab your ticket at the door and wander through the most gorgeous gardens, koi ponds, and dilapidated, earthquake stricken walls. Read or listen to the history and snap some photos as the sun goes down over ruins of the bell tower.
Mission San Juan Capistrano
River Street is the newest addition to town. I remember when it was a field… really. With a flower boutique, vintage finds, modern finds, and the CUTEST art studio… there is something for everyone.
River Street Marketplace
Relax after a full day of food, drinks, and shopping at Doheny State Beach.

In nearby San Clemente find incredible deals on top brands at the Outlets. I'm still rocking some Converse, Vans, and Levi's from my last visit.

Get lost in the antique mall. Enter through the big arched doorway and step into over 10,000 square feet of vintage heaven.
The Old Barn Antiques Mall
River Street Ranch is really cute for younger kids. Pet and interact with lots of animals… but call ahead, because if it's a particularly hot day some of the animals might be resting out of sight.
