The Hiding Spots
Quiet places out of the city
The Hiding Spots
There is a small reserve walkway near the water that runs along cooks river and next to a sport pitch. Bring along a camping chair and listen to nothing but the water.
Beaman Park | City of Canterbury Bankstown
Not so quiet in the weekends or after school but if you need somewhere to clear your head this place could help. There's no views to distract you from thinking and the tram is just a few steps away.
Arlington Oval
Very busy on the weekends as expected but also has a great atmosphere. You can have breakfast while people watching and then go for a short stroll.
Outfield Cafe
You can litterally step of the train at the earlwood station and go for a short bush walk. Be careful of bats in the summer when they come in to breed. Side note they smell so so bad… you will know when they're around. Also watch where your head goes...
Wolli Creek walking track | NSW National Parks
Sometimes you just need to spend some time with nature. Hear the wind blow through these trees in the swampy side of Leo smiths reserve. Take a minute to reset and head off again on the track. Side note…sometimes it stinks because of the mud.
Leo Smith Reserve
There's always bound to be a quiet corner in Hyde park but maybe go out somewhere else in the weekends. Everybody does mostly keep to themselves but occasionally you will see some unsavory types wondering around there.
Hyde Park
We've only just came across this place and love how big it is. The bar is a fun old fashion tavern from medieval times, there's plenty of tables. You are free to walk around into the other rooms one of which features a gaming arena. The top level is ...
Fortress Sydney
This futuristic building is right in the middle of the hustle and bustle. If you feel like you gotta run and hide before screaming at someone this place will give you that five minutes of chill.
Darling Square Library
Such a great little spot near the city where you can watch the sun go down and listen to boats splashing gently on the waves. Bring a friend and some nibbles. I found this place to be safe at night as well and watched bats fly around in the trees.
Rose Bay Park
Quiet places out of the city
This is a suburb in NSW Australia that features waterfalls deep in the bush. Watch out for snakes on the trails. Its worth the long walk.
Waterfall, New South Wales
Get yourself down to Circular Quay, next get on the ferry that goes to parramatta. Bring snacks and drink to enjoy the scenery of the river.
Parramatta River
Its hard to believe that this place is so close to the city. I recommend getting the train rather that trying to park up somewhere. You will see big goanna lizards climbing trees but don't be scared they aren't hunting you.
Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park
If you are visiting Sydney and don't mind a fitness test then this ones for you. Yes the pools are great but the best part is getting over that damn hill and seeing the view. Side note there are leeches in the bush near the beach, look down at your l...
Figure Eight Pools | NSW National Parks
You must go here if your visiting Sydney and wanting to do something that's not high not the tourist list. You are free to explore the grounds, the garden, the garden growing veges for the cafe. You can also hop across the road and sit on the small b...
Vaucluse House - Museums of History NSW
Maybe don't come here in the weekend when its not so secret and not as peaceful. During the week or after a short working day will be perfect to come take a spot in this little patch of oasis. There's many flowers and walkways to enjoy.
