I have lots of books in my classroom library. But there are always books that students just have to read - these are the books that my students just love!
Great YA read that my Latinx students love!
I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter
One of my favorites! The prequel to The Hate U Give about her dad - my teen boys enjoy it tons!
Concrete Rose
An in-verse novel (aka short). Male narrator. Jason Reynolds is amazing and has tons of other books too!
Long Way Down
In-verse novel. Great for Latinx students to read (one page is full Spanish!) and about a student using poetry to navigate her feelings.
The Poet X
So many students are reading this series right now - I'm having to send kids to the library to get it!
They Both Die at the End
I showed a book trailer for it this past week and every copy in our school library (like 8) was checked out by the end of the day 🤩 In-verse novel, so a quick read for them!
Clap When You Land
Along with Concrete Rose - this is always a favorite!
The Hate U Give
Students love these books too since they're graphic novels!
Lore Olympus
Because of the show, this one gets picked up all the time!
The Handmaid's Tale
As an in-verse book and being about sports, kids love it!
The Crossover
It's heavy, but gosh, every student that reads it has strong feelings about it! God and bad 😂
The Kite Runner
My students love mysteries!
One of Us Is Lying
Seeing lots of interest now that this book is a Netflix series!
A Good Girl's Guide to Murder
Whenever students ask for romance, I steer them towards my Sarah Dessen books!
Sarah Dessen
This book quickly becomes a favorite for lots of students!
