The Romans (and Italians) don't really *DO* breakfast. It's usually a caffè (espresso) and a cornetto (croissant) at a bar (cafe). But, these are great places that should be on your list when you visit Rome.
In Rome, lunch usually happens around 2pm. It's the big meal of the day. Come hungry.
From 4-6pm, real Italians take an Aperitivo. It's a pre-dinner drink meant to make the stomach ready for dinner. It's casual and part of the culture, so get ready to sit and relax, talk with (and about) the people around you, and laugh laugh laugh.
Now that you've waited until 8 or 9 pm for dinner (like all good Europeans), enjoy a leisurely, lovely, laughter filled evening with friends and family.
