We spent a month on Long Island this summer. We were expecting to move there, so I spent every minute driving to see towns, since I had never been anywhere except Montauk. We explored and learned so much. (We ended up back in Florida, so it was short...

OMG!!! Freshest oysters ever! (Hugs selection too!) This place stays busy for a reason. From fresh catch to cook at home, to the nice ready to eat menu, you can't go wrong. The staff was exceptionally helpful and super fast too.
Southold Fish Market
So delicious! We stayed nearby for a weekend and the kids only wanted to eat here. Huge portions, delicious everything. Ask for Charlie. My kids declared him the GOAT. Every time we eat out now, the waiter is compared to his unbeatable service.
Buccaneer Diner
Excellent food! Awesome cocktails! Friendly staff, good service. Gorgeous landscaping! My son orders mozzarella sticks everywhere. He says their planks are unbeatable.
Drifters Kitchen and Bar
Iconic spot! Life saver on a hot day. Don't fear a long line. It moves at warp speed. Beware of the wet paper cup if you don't eat fast enough. Everyone loved their flavor choice. (Nobody ordered lemon?! Kids!)

Things To Do
Straight out of a fairy tale. Maybe the most gorgeous park I've ever seen. The wildlife provides endless entertainment. Turtles, geese, birds, fish, and a beautiful swan.
Heckscher Park - Town of Huntington, Long Island, New York
Beautiful, historic landmark! West you're tennis shoes! Head to the Planetarium for tickets to see the mansion. Plus, you'll find a cafe and gift shop there. So much to do. There's even extreme hiking trails with easier options for a less challenging...
Vanderbilt Museum, Mansion & Planetarium | Things To Do On Long Island
Great place to spend a hot summer day. The kids can spend hours exploring indoors and outside there's a beautiful garden, water play area, and more. Don't miss the carousel in the separate glass building. The fish market was always busy with the litt...
LICM
Iconic park! You'll need more than one day to see it all. So great for walking and playing. Be sure to take the kids across the highway via a walking path overpass.
Flushing Meadows Corona Park
Great interactive learning fun! Be prepared to pay high prices and for add-on charges for special sections, like the outdoor playground.
NYSCI
So cute and funny! I wouldn't recommend driving hours to see it, but if you're nearby don't miss it. Besides the cute family photo op, the gift shop has some unique and creative items.
The Big Duck
This iconic beach is a must. Be ready to walk 1/2 mile from the parking lot to the concessions and again to the beach.

Great hotel! 2bd\2ba suites that can't be beat. I've never stayed in a hotel suite bigger than most NYC apartments. The service was great. Breakfast was delicious and the menu changes daily. Laundry, gym, and indoor pool. (Bonus: Next door to the Lon...
SpringHill Suites by Marriott Long Island Brookhaven
Best mosquito and tick repellent! Ticks are out of control this year. Be sure to check yourself and children head to toe and every in between.
Every parent should carry these. I don't know how many times they've saved me from wasting time trying to find a bathroom or from every little dirty thing life with kids brings.
Clorox Disinfecting Wipes, Fresh Scent, 75ct x3
Sunscreen is a must for all that walking in the parks or playing at the beaches. This is my favorite for it's easy application and sheerness.
