I love painting with traditional gouache, it’s a great medium. It’s kind of like a cross between watercolour and acrylic and has a beautiful matte finish.
A basic mechanical pencil. I prefer mechanical pencils as my disability means I struggle to use a traditional sharpener.
Faber-Castell : TK9400 mechanical pencil
The best watercolour paper. It’s gummed all the way around so you don’t have to worry about taping it down. Just slide a pallet knife in the small gap and run it around the edges to release the page.
Arches : Aquarelle : Watercolour Paper Gummed Pads
Jackson’s art does some really great art supplies. This is their watercolour paper which is gummed all the way around like archers but it’s a bit cheaper.
Jackson's : Bockingford : Watercolour Pad : 300gsm : 140lb
This gouache is 10/10. The pigmentation is beautiful. Honestly if you’re going to invest in good gouache get this.
Gouache - Holbein Artist Materials
My top two favourite gouach paints are Windsor and Newton tubes and Holbien tubes. The Windsor and newton ones are just slightly cheaper.
Designers Gouache - Winsor & Newton
Water colours are great for laying down soft washes of colour
