My phone photos from the tower observation deck looked washed out and flat. I almost cried. These are the pieces that finally did the panoramic Nile views justice.

I showed up my first day in dark jeans and a cotton tee. By the time I reached the entrance I looked like I'd jumped in the Nile. These kept me cool and still photo-ready.

Every blog said eat at the tower restaurant. It was fine but overpriced. These spots within walking distance of Gezira blew it away and my wallet thanked me.

My regular backpack zipper broke on day three from overstuffing it with water bottles and camera gear. These held up to the chaos and kept pickpockets out.

Most people visit the tower and leave. I almost did too. Staying on the island for a full day revealed spots that ended up being highlights of my entire Egypt trip.

I got the worst sunburn of my life on the walk to Cairo Tower. The observation deck has open-air sections and the UV at that altitude is brutal. Don't repeat my mistake.

WiFi at the tower was nonexistent and my phone died twice before sunset. These kept me connected, charged, and able to actually navigate Cairo without panicking.

Nobody warned me the elevator is tiny, packed, and rockets up fast. If you're even slightly nervous about heights or tight spaces, these made the experience manageable instead of miserable.

I swore I wouldn't buy tourist junk. Then I found genuinely cool stuff near Gezira Island that people back home actually wanted. Skip the plastic pyramids and grab these instead.
