The desert outside Fayoum hits different than a beach. There's zero shade near the waterfalls and the sand reflects heat right back at you. I came home looking like a lobster on my first trip. Never again.

There's basically nothing to buy once you pass the entrance gate. No shops, no vendors, no cold drinks. The nearest convenience store is a long dusty drive back toward Fayoum city.

The ground around the waterfalls is a mix of loose sand, sharp rocks, and wet slippery patches near the water. I watched someone in flip flops eat it hard on the descent. Don't be that person.

Wadi El Rayan is one of the most photogenic spots in Egypt and almost nobody outside the country knows about it. The light around golden hour turns the whole landscape orange and the falls look unreal.

Most people drive from Cairo and try to do it in one day. That works but it's exhausting. Staying overnight in Fayoum gives you time to actually enjoy the waterfalls without rushing back in traffic.
