My first mask flooded every thirty seconds. I spent more time clearing water than looking at fish. These four stayed locked on my face through hours of drift snorkeling at Three Pools.

Swallowed Red Sea water twice with a cheap snorkel before I learned my lesson. A proper dry-top valve changes everything when small waves roll through Three Pools.

Burned so badly my first day that I couldn't wear a rash guard without wincing. Three Pools has almost no shade, and the Dahab sun reflects off the water like a mirror.

Watched a guy snorkel Three Pools shirtless for three hours. He looked like a lobster by dinner. A rash guard buys you hours more water time without the pain.

Three Pools has a rocky shore entry that will shred bare feet. Watched someone slice their foot open on the first day and spend the rest of the trip in flip-flops at the hotel.

The coral formations at Three Pools are unlike anything in the Caribbean. I kicked myself for not having a camera my first visit and spent the next trip making up for it.

Rental fins in Dahab gave me blisters so bad I limped for two days. Three Pools has mild current, so you need fins that let you cruise without exhausting your legs.

Left my phone on the rocks at Three Pools while snorkeling. Came back to find sand in the charging port and a cracked screen protector. Now I bag everything before I even leave the hotel.

There's no shop at Three Pools. Nearest food is a walk back into Dahab. I ran out of water by noon once and had to cut the best snorkeling day short because I was dizzy.

Regular towels turn into wet sandbags in Dahab. You snorkel, dry off, snorkel again, and suddenly your towel smells like a locker room. Quick-dry towels fixed that loop entirely.

Coral cuts get infected fast in warm water. A tiny scrape on my shin turned angry red within a day because I didn't clean it properly. Dahab pharmacies exist but you don't want to waste snorkel time finding one.

Crawling out of Three Pools starving and sunburned, you need food fast. These Dahab spots are close, cheap, and serve portions big enough to replace the 2,000 calories you just burned floating around.
