My Autistic son still thinks his clothing are napkins that you simply wear and my mother, who is a hemiplegic, routinely wears a lot of her meals…so, laundry is Master Class level around here! We also have brain injuries and sensitivities etc so my ‘natural/non toxic’ laundry soap actually needs to be able to get the crap out of everyone's clothes! You will see that many of the items on this list are ‘waterless’. I am a huge fan of small with might strength (also smaller containers, less plastic and zero drip) So, here's a list of what I use and rotate in my laundry room.
