East Texas Freshwater Fishing
Our family, spends a lot of time on the lakes of East Texas. We love to freshwater fish. Below is a list of combos, rods, reels and baits that we recommend. Also, some of our favorite freshwater fishing spots in East Texas.

Rod and Reel Combos
Worth the price, easy to spool up and great for beginners. Well put together combo.
Good quality combo, the price point and performance is unmatched. Can't go wrong with this combo.
I personally think this is the best rod/reel combo for the price! Very smooth casting and great quality. If you need more of a finess approach, this combo is the way to go.

Rods

Soft Plastic Baits
Great for bass fishing. I prefer to use these, middle to late February, and into March and April. Shallow water points and rocks.
If you're looking for a soft plastic swimbait, with great action and proven results, this is it. Works well all year around (presentation may vary).
This is my favorite Carolina rig bait. Works well for me all year around.
Hard Plastic Baits
With a wide variety of colors and sizes. Bomber is one of the leading, hard plastic manufactures on the market. This crankbait is good for multiple depths and can be used year round.
Whether the fish are sluggish or on fire. You should always make sure you have a rattle trap ready to go. These are good for bass fishing. Works best in spring, summer and fall.
Jigs
When the bass turn lockjaw and the bite gets tough. These baits are super stars in heavy cover and around boat docks. You can use these year round, but I prefer to use in the late fall and winter.
Crappie Bait
These crappie fireballs will have you limited out in no time. This is my sons go to for crappie fishing.
