Public places you can access to go kayaking in and around the Upper Valley
Open water as well as some little areas to get away from the bigger boats. There's also a sandy area for swimming and lounging. Fairly large public parking area.
Canaan Street Lake, Canaan NH
Very large lake with lots of bigger boats. Be careful where you park if you're not a resident.
Mascoma Lake
Put in at the Boat Launch off Rt 4 in Canaan near Peanuts Auto. Mostly calm waters.
Mascoma River
Very calm, usually quiet. Little parking area.
George Pond, Enfield
A nice lake, but populated with houses. Not as quiet in the summer months.
Crystal Lake, Enfield
A cute little spot to be alone (usually).
Spectacle Pond, Enfield, NH
A little hidden treasure. You'll think you're lost for sure, but it's out there. Nice parking area.
Clark Pond, Canaan NH
A cute little pond though it doesn't have great parking and it's a little challenging to get in and out of.
Tewksbury Pond, Grafton, NH
An easy paddle (except when it's windy). Lots of islands to explore. Some parking but it fills up fast when it's nice out.
Grafton Pond, Grafton, NH
While Squam isn't as popular as someplace like Winni, you might still run into some bigger crowds and bigger boats.
Squam Lake

Bear Brook State Park
Another awesome place to enjoy the water or spend the night. There are several remote campsites you can only access by boat. Parking fee applies.

Wellington State Park
A great, flat location to paddle. Parking fee usually applies.
