We are a board game family! With ages that range from 14 to 3 we try to have a little something for everyone. Here are some of our favorites. We are always on the lookout for more games so I'd love to hear what some of your favorites are!
Hive is 2 player game that we often will play one-on-one with one child at a time (if we have the opportunity). It is also one of my husband and I's favorites and comes in a travel version that is easy to pack and perfect for any occasion.

Skull King! This card game is akin to Euchre but with pirates and mermaids. It is played in rounds and can be as many or as few rounds as you'd like. It is lightly strategic and requires the kids to be thinking about the next move down the line. A family favorite!

Munchkin amps up the strategy a little. It refer to it as D&D light. There are characters, classes, races, spells, curses, monsters to fight, etc, etc. The more you play the more fun it is. It also has an amazing array of expansion packs available to mix things up as well.

Quick, easy, fun. Sushi Go is an easy one to pull out for when we only have 20 minutes to play a game. We come back to it again and again.
Sushi Go - Pick and Pass Card Game 2-5 Players
Another easy one to pack for any trip. LRC is enjoyable for everyone in our house from our 3 year old to our 14 year old. From time to time we up the stakes by giving each one of the kids quarters instead of the included chips-winner takes all!
LCR® Left Center Right™ Dice Game - Blue Tin
This game is not really one for our littlest. It can take quite a long time to complete but keeps the older kids engaged the whole time. You have to collect train cars and make your way across the map, earning points and sabotaging your opponents along the way. There is even a Great Lakes edition which is hard not to love as a Midwesterner!
Ticket to Ride | Board Game
I like to refer to this as freestyle Scrabble but way more fun! This quick thinking game takes between 5-10 minutes from start to finish and is great to throw in a travel bag.
Bananagrams
Catchphrase has been a favorite in our house since before we had kids. We have taken it on cruises, played it at parties, on roadtrips, etc, etc, etc. I think we have owned several at this point because we play them until they're totally worn down and then we get a new one!
Hasbro Gaming Catch Phrase Electronic Game
Toddler heaven! This magnetic game involves the identification of colors and shapes and is a favorite of our 3 year old.
CLACK!
Hues and Cues comes in a big box and has an equally large game board but don't be intimidated by the size of it! It is a quick, 3 round game that asks you to guess what color a person is describing and the closer you get, the more points you both get...
Hues and Cues®
While this isn't my favorite, it is a favorite in our house. This 2 player strategy games is a fast play that my husband loves and plays often with the kids.
Stratego Original
This is a great, packable card game where you have to get a certain combination of cards to advance to the next “phase” and the first one to complete the 10th phase wins. 10/10
Mattel Phase 10 Card Game, 108 Cards
No family board game list would be complete with this classic! My 9 year old often carries around an Uno Reverse Card in his pocket “just in case”.
UNO Classic Colour & Number Card Game 112
It is so hard to not love the classics. This is also one that is easy to pack and easy to play which makes it the perfect game to grab on the way out the door.
Hasbro Gaming Yahtzee
This game has my kids giggling and cackling the whole time. They get to make potty joke the entire time and they LOVE IT.
