Where to go to find the little farm stands that have the veggies, plants, fruit and other good food.
Right on route 9, before you get to Valatie, this is a one stop place for fresh veggies, baked goods, ice cream, fruit and crafts. Always stopped, when in the area.
Samascott's Garden Market
Holds a special place in my heart. I picked berries there, got flowers and veggie plants in the spring there. I loved to browse the baked goods, canned foods and fresh meats. Miss it so much.
The Chatham Berry Farm LLC
The best apple cider donuts in the area. They have the best produce at reasonable prices. Have a huge variety of apples including Jonagold.
Golden Harvest Farms
A must visit, lots of dried fruit, coffee, and other items. Lots of nuts and so much more. They also sell granola and spices. Also have a great website.
Tierra Farm
Some of the best food in the region
The area has all kinds of food from traditional to Italian to Indian
On main Street, you can't miss this eatery. More than just pizza, but the pizza and subs are great. I recommend the garbage pizza. I also loved the salmon and their Greek salad.
Lagonias Bistro
Whether eating in or take out, the menu is filled with yummy dishes. I used to get the salmon salad. The desserts are also tasty. It's on main Street.
Chatham Grill
Also has a store in Catskill NY. The best juices, shots, smoothies and bowls. They use natural ingredients and make it right there in just a few minutes. The taste is divine.
The Juice Branch
Spent many mornings here with a good friend. Food was great and had good service. Right on 9H, it's menu looks about the same.

The food here is excellent. The pizzas are yummy and the salads are divine. Everything is delicious.
High Falls Pizzeria & Taphouse
They have dairy free and gluten free options. All sorts of baked goods. If that's not enough they still made to order breakfast and lunch sandwiches. Mm it was soooo good.

Columbia county has a lot of microbrewers.
An old depot, retro fitted to be a brewery, it's a beautiful place. Right next to active railroad tracks. Got a tour of the building before it was even open. Small building, but has been restored.

Main Street in Hudson has galleries, but there's even more in the county.
Art at Omi is a unique blend of statues and architecture. They have about 60 works of art. It's not too hard to find if you take route 66 from Hudson, NY.

I used to steal peeks in the window as I was walking on lunch break. I went in a few times. I enjoyed the array of art that was displayed.

Got lost and ended up here. Beautiful grounds. See it is temporarily closed. Not sure why.
Martin Van Buren National Historic Site
Although I've seen it up on the hill, I never got there. It sits overlooking the Hudson River. It's very majestic.
Olana State Historic Site
Located in the old armory, this is a beautiful building. Walked by the building hundreds of times, marvelling at the architecture.
Hudson Area Library
Another place I never got to see. The shakers were prevalent in this area and Berkshire county, MA.
Shaker Museum
Cute and quirky, a must see in Hudson, NY. I always loved they have art supplies. They have a nice selection of books and then there's the bar.
Spotty Dog Books & Ale
This museum has community events, including dalmatians at times. It's next to a home for retired firefighters. There's a beautiful walking path in front of it. Easy access in Hudson

Into the wild beauty of Columbia County
Need fresh air? Nice activities to do in the beauty of the county.
This is good for walking or biking, a great way to get out in the outdoors. It extends beyond the Columbia county borders. Goes down to dutchess county and up through rennsalaer county. It's paved and has crosswalks across any major roads.
Albany-Hudson Electric Trail - Hudson to Kinderhook - Empire State Trail
You can walk over this bridge. It's a beautiful sight, and you might see a barge go under the bridge. You can look into the hills to catch a glimpse of Olana. Good exercise and fun to look down on the water.
Hudson River Skywalk
If you want to visit bish bash falls, come in through Taconic State Park. The Massachusetts side is closed for maintenance.
Beautiful falls.
Also visit the lake nearby.
