Every mat I owned before these would migrate across my living room floor by the time I hit downward dog. These three actually grip hardwood and tile without leaving marks.

I used to throw a regular bath towel over my mat and it would bunch up within five minutes. These towels have grip dots on the bottom and they lock onto your mat like velcro.

Some mats need a little help, especially when they're new and have that factory film on them. These sprays cleaned mine up and added extra traction I didn't know was possible.

Hard floors plus bony knees equals misery during lunges and tabletop. I bruised my kneecap once during a class and couldn't kneel for a week. These fixed that problem completely.

Blocks aren't just for beginners. On slippery floors, having a solid block under your hand during triangle pose is the difference between holding it and face-planting.

My hamstrings have been tight since approximately birth. Straps let me get into poses I'd otherwise skip entirely, and they give you something to actually hold onto when your hands are sweaty.

Sometimes the mat isn't the problem. Sometimes your hands and feet are just sweaty. These gave me traction where I needed it most without feeling bulky or weird.

Knocked over a regular water bottle onto my mat once and spent the rest of practice sliding around in a puddle. These stay sealed and upright, which apparently is too much to ask of a normal bottle.

Skipping recovery after practicing on hard floors caught up with me fast. My lower back was angry for weeks until I started rolling out after every session. Ten minutes made a noticeable difference.

My yoga gear used to live in a pile behind the couch. Getting organized meant I actually practiced more because setup took 30 seconds instead of a scavenger hunt.
