If you're looking to avoid tourist traps, I highly recommend these quaint local spots. Here are some spots that encapsulate what Maui is all about.

The Best Poke Bowls on the island hands down. This place was a cozy hole in the wall, but they had a line out the door.
Tin Roof Maui
Best Banana Bread I Have Ever Had. If you are traveling along the Hana highway you have to add this gem to your stop. This place is so popular that they run out of banana bread within the first hours of opening.
Aunty Sandy's Banana Bread
Best Poke Food Truck. Poke Bobs was amazing, the portions were generous and the food was delicious. The rice was perfectly cooked and the fish was fresh and tender. I loved this place so much we ate here three times during our stay.
Poke Bob’s
Best Dessert Spot. I've had shaved ice before but never like this. The texture was soft and fluffy, like an icee mixed with sorbet. They also have many flavors to choose from, I recommend picking at least 3!
Ululani's Hawaiian Shave Ice - Kihei
Friendly atmosphere & Cheap food
Kalei's Lunchbox - Maui Lani
Definitely a little hole in the wall, but if you want to eat like a local…
Faithful Grinds
A little pricey but the food presentation and views were amazing.
Nalu's South Shore Grill
Another food truck option for my food truck foodies!
Kihei Fish House by Maui Grill
The line for this food truck was so long, but the food was amazing and super cheap, I honestly thought it was under priced.
