The Haunting Hour: Scary and thrilling movies for your enjoyment
37
items I love horror and thriller movies, but there is definitely a bunch of slop out there. Well these are ones I've watched and here are my opinions. I hope you enjoy them too!
An amazing and creepy horror movie with a mostly female cast. A group of friends going cave exploring and find themselves lost while being stalked by the monsters of the caves. Reccomend the original ending
The Descent (2005)
This horror movie is anything but predictable. Food can be an amazing way to express yourself. But where's the line between expressing your passion and putting on a performance for the elite? Watch as this Master Chef gives the best performance of hi...
The Menu (2022)
I honestly do not know how to describe this movie. Paranormal maybe? Either way it was a very creepy film about, you guessed it, the autopsy of Jane Doe. But is she really dead? A father and son autopsy team is about to find out.
The Autopsy of Jane Doe (2016)
My favorite remake of a horror movie. Unlike its successor, this movie is all horror. And the best part? No jump scares! There is the death of a pet, but other than that it was an amazing remake.
Evil Dead (2013)
When family tradition goes too far a young bride does what she needs to to survive. A chilling tale with an amazing female lead. But I'm partial to strong femal leads
Ready or Not (2019)
A fun Halloween horror movie. This movie follows Sam, the spirit of Halloween, and why you should always follow the traditions of Haloween. A must watch during the Halloween season
Trick 'r Treat (2007)
A great psychological thriller movie that has an interesting take on the life of a modern family
Vivarium
Great movie about how we shouldn't tamper with death. A team of scientists get news of their department shutting down, but don't want their work to perish. So they plan to sneak into the facility in an attempt to preserve their research, but things s...
The Lazarus Effect (2015)
Wow. Just wow. This dystopian film displays the life of young orphan girls who follow the rules and regulations of the people in charge so they can move up levels until they ready for adoption at level 16. Or so they think.
Level 16 (2018)
Avoided this movie for a bit, but so glad I sat down and watched it. A girl just trying to get through school while making some extra cash buy giving people extreme black market body modifications. What could go wrong?
American Mary (2012)
A psychological thriller about a man on death row claiming to be possessed buy a demon who made him do bad things and a Psychiatrist there to determine if he is mentally stable enough to be given the death sentence. A very well done minimalistic movi...
Nefarious (2023)
A good found footage style movie that explores A haunted church and the paranormal mayhem going on
Final Prayer (the Borderlands) 2013
It's stupid and I love it. It feels like a cheep 80's horror movie in the best way. It may not be winning any Oscars, but it was fun!
Death Factory (Video 2002)
Honestly not an amazing plot, but i enjoyed watching it non-the-less. Got some good laughs and wtf moments. Don't expect a cinematic masterpiece, but do expect a good laugh
The Monkey (2025)
Honestly not the worst Final Destination. I think that its worth a watch. It's an interesting take on the Final Destination series. Just remember. Death comes for all of us eventually
Final Destination: Bloodlines (2025)
A wonderful classic about a child who is a psychopath and the evil deeds that follow her. This eerie tale puts the fear of many parents into reality
The Bad Seed (1956)
Not for the weak stomachs. This foreign horror follows an orphan girl and her revenge on the family who abused her. But there is more than she knows about the abuse she endured. Do NOT watch the 2016 American remake and only watch the original 2008 v...
Martyrs (2008)
An amazingly demonstrated horror movie showing the length men will go just to take advantage of women. It may be a movie, but it demonstrates why one of women's greatest fears is men.
Blink Twice (2024)
This interesting psychological thriller demonstrates the rules of how, even when being locked up prisoners, the mentality of hierarchy still runs rampid. You can't shit up. An amazing movie, but the ending confused me.
Watch The Platform | Netflix Official Site
I did not enjoy this movie at all. In my opinion the previews made it seem like a killer kid kind of movie. I didn't like the antagonist was kind of random. Yes, they are making a prequel, but the first movie should have gave some sort of explanation...
Weapons (2025 film) - Wikipedia
I enjoyed this movie. It was a great take on how overwhelming motherhood and depression can be. Maybe not a major Blockbuster, but still enjoyable.
The Woman in the Yard
Great fun movie. I am usually not one to enjoy alien movies, but this one was different than your regular sci-fi movies. The moral of this story is no wild beast can be tamed.
Nope (2022)
Another B-rated 80's movie with zombie like creatures. Originally and Italian film, this movie was dubbed to be available in America. Creepy, but a good laugh. Some of the dub it definitely crazy, but enjoyable.
Demons (1985)
An insult to call this a Wrong Turn remake. Maybe if it was its own movie it could of worked, but honestly I don't know. From unanswered questions to a random remote village, this movie definitely took a wrong turn while making it. I loved the origin...
Wrong Turn (2021)
Another movie with a great example of why you can never trust men, not even the one you married. The lengths men will go to have the perfect wife is never surprised, but always horrifying. I believe there is a 2014 remake of this (i have not watched)...
The Stepford Wives (1975)
Life seems so perfect for this housewife and husband in their little town. Until one day one of the wives killers herself and the events surrounding the mysterious death puzzles another housewife. Does she keep digging or retreat back to the wonderfu...
Watch Don't Worry Darling
Probably one of the most accurate portrales of the mind of a serial killer. This dark tale follows Henry, a former convict, living with his former cellmate when his cellmates sister decides to live with them for a bit. Her and Henry start to form a c...
Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer (1986)
Freddy Kruger? Why are you in a random small southern town? But seriously I really enjoyed this movie. A group of young adults and a random couple take a fake detour only to end up in a small town preparing for a festival only to realize this festiva...
2001 Maniacs (2005)
There are definitely people out there who swear by this movie. I am not one. I honestly couldn't make it through because of how slow it was. A girl was killed and her family wants answers after the claim to see her ghost in security videos around the...
Lake Mungo (2008)
A found footage type film following ghost hunters as they embark of a journey in an abandoned psych ward. I would definitely reccomend this movie and the second one to anyone.
Grave Encounters (2011)
I loved this movie just as much as the first one. Another group of ghost hunters on a mission to make a documentary about the original crew from the first movie trying to disprove the finding. Boy were they mistaken
Grave Encounters 2 (2012)
A fun haunted house turned into the murder scene of 15 victims. A few years later a documentary crew goes to find out what really happened at the Hell House only to be met with something they never thought possible. Great found footage movie
Hell House LLC (2015)
An archeologist set to find a stone located in the Paris Catacombs and assembles a crew to help her. Little do they realize they are entering their own Hell. When will people realize the Paris Catacombs are not to messed with? I definitely have a wee...
As Above, So Below (2014)
Scary, violent, and thrilling. A group of boys decided to go on a trip to Europe looking for a good time and maybe some stories to tell. With the help of some locals they do just that, or so they thought. Little do they know people pay good money to ...
Hostel (2005)
I did not enjoy this one as much as the first one. Following the same beginning as the last movie, a group of girls are in Europe looking for a good time, but end up with more than they bargained for. This one goes into more detail about just how big...
Hostel: Part II (2007)
Another good found footage film about an apartment building under quarantine after a deadly virus is discovered amongst the residence. Trapped inside is also a crew of firefighters and a journalist with a crew documenting the jobs of the firefighters...
Quarantine (2008)
This South Korean found footage style film follows a group of young adults who have an online show dedicated to horror. To up their views they decide to explore and livestream an abandoned asylum and do some Ghost hunting. When things start to go awr...
Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum (2018)
