I am a small animal veterinarian with a special passion for dentistry. I have seen great dental care change pets lives for the better, and bring old dogs back to puppy playfulness and old cats start snuggling again. Great dental care starts with great home care, in addition to collaboration with a dedicated veterinarian. The more you can do the more routinely, the better you will be able to fight disease that can diminish your pets quality and longevity of life. Keep in mind, we can only see 50% of the tooth above the gumline, and routine dental cleaning, and x-rays are the best way to keep a healthy mouth. Using these tools can decrease the risk of pain, infection and bad breath. I strongly recommend establishing a good home care routine and then having a dental cleaning and x-rays performed, extractions if indicated, so that you are starting with a healthy mouth. Team up with your veterinarian and touch base about the recommendations I’ve listed here!
