While not perfect, I truly believe Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn deserved to be front and center. She's impossible not to love. It's disappointing that a sequel and Robbie returning to the role anytime soon is unlikely. I'd love to see more of Harley'...
Birds of Prey (2020 film)
Okay. So, it will always be the TV series for me. But this is a must watch for die hard fans of the TruTV series and overall deserves a bit more attention.
Impractical Jokers: The Movie
An underrated animated film based on the book by Lois Lowry. Great voice acting performances from an all-star cast including Martin Short, Maya Rudolph and even Alessia Cara who also sang for the film.
The Willoughbys
Okay. The animation quality may not be as great as the first two films and there are some inaccuracies chronologically when comparing it to the TV series. Nevertheless, I'm still a SpongeBob fan after all these years and it's the perfect film for tho...
The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run
A well-made film that gives insight into the anti-Vietnam War protests. In particular the Chicago Seven and their involvement with the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago. The film features an all-star cast including Eddie Redmayne and Sac...
The Trial of the Chicago 7
This film brought Emerald Fennell the attention she deserves as a filmmaker. I love films about female empowerment and claiming back what's theirs. The is the perfect film regarding such. Carey Mulligan's Cassandra is in my opinion one of the best ch...
Promising Young Woman
2021
Though I personally consider this to be a 2020 film since it competed alongside movies released that year at the Oscars, it nevertheless showcases an intense look at the Black Panther Party and the betrayal of the chairman of the Illinois chapter Fre...
Judas and the Black Messiah
I wish that Rosamund Pike would keep getting meaty lead roles in films because she stole the show as a con artist taking advantage of elderly people in this movie. She even won a Golden Globe for her performance when most weren't expecting her to win...
I Care a Lot (2020) - IMDb
Emma Stone and Emma Thompson give impressive performances for a Disney live action remake. Not to mention, the costumes are breath taking to see on screen.
Cruella (film)
I'm a sucker for biopics and films about women. While I may not have the same beliefs at the title character, I love watching her journey throughout the film and seeing Jessica Chastain portray her throughout it.
The Eyes of Tammy Faye (2021 film)
The perfect conclusion to Daniel Craig's run as the iconic spy.
No Time to Die
A film with stunning visual effects and a compelling story that made me look forward to part 2.
Dune (2021 film)
I wish more people saw this in the movie theater. It's a solid remake from Steven Spielberg and in some ways, it's superior to the 1961 film.
West Side Story (2021 film)
2022
The Robert Pattinson version of the franchise looks promising so far. I'm very much looking forward to a second film coming out hopefully soon.
The Batman (film)
This movie honestly beats out its already great first film. Years later and Tom Cruise is still at his finest. It's a moving story with fantastic character development for an action film. Additionally, I love the Lady Gaga song :)
Top Gun: Maverick (2022) - IMDb
A movie about living the one life you have to the fullest. The new animation style actually works. I love the Puss in Boots spin off movies. They're just as good as the first two Shrek films in my opinion.
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish
Many thought this movie was too obscene for the Oscars. I thought it was a hilariously blunt, brutally and honest take on the behind the scenes of Hollywood. Especially during the times of the 1920s and as films transitioned from silent ones to talki...
Babylon (2022) - IMDb
I'm amazed at how well a Baz Luhrman directed Elvis movie came out! The epic, larger than life spectacle ended up being the perfect fit for the King of Rock and Roll.
Elvis (2022 film)
2023
A fun movie for all ages. Looking forward to the sequel next year. I especially loved Jack Black's Bowser and his song “Peaches”
The Super Mario Bros. Movie
A faithful adaptation to the Judy Blume book. A great film for young girls as well as older women.
Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret. (film)
A great follow up to Into the Spider-Verse. I love the animation style and seeing the huge variety of the super-hero and storylines with the Spider-Man universe. Looking forward to seeing a third film soon.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
The story might be bizarre for some, but Jennifer Lawrence shows she needs to be in more comedies, especially raunchy ones. Plus, I have family from Long Island, so I actually really liked seeing Montauk being heavily featured (As well as other locat...
No Hard Feelings (2023 film)
This film could have easily been a disaster, but Greta Gerwig managed to make a popular doll into a film about female empowerment and discovery while poking fun at the doll's past.
Barbie (film)
Goes well with Barbie somehow, the story of how J. Robert Oppenheimer created the atomic bomb at the height of World War 2 surprisingly turned into both a summer blockbuster and a critically acclaimed biopic.
Oppenheimer (2023) - IMDb
Admittedly not the most accurate book to film adaptation but in my personal opinion…a lot better than Mockingjay parts 1 and 2. I'm sorry but it was quickly starting to drag… I love a good backstory. Especially when it looks like the bad guy may have...
The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes
I saw both the Beyonce and Taylor Swift concert films. While I enjoyed seeing Swift's show in some capacity (Never got to see the actual concert), I actually enjoyed Beyonce's film a lot more. That's because aside from seeing highlights from the conc...
Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé (2023) - IMDb
2024
This was probably even better than the first film. I loved the new additions to the cast, more screen time for Zendaya :) and the visual effects just keep getting better and better.
Dune: Part Two
I've always loved Sean Baker's work so I'm glad he's finally getting the recognition he deserves. Thes story is hilarious and charming and you can't get enough of Mikey Madison's Ani.
Anora
Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande and the rest of the cast were perfect for the long awaited film adaptation of the Broadway musical. John M. Chu proves that he should direct every single movie musical to come.
Wicked (2024 film)
The first film will always be superior but I personally loved seeing the twist on the little boy from the first film as he seeks vengeance after all of these years as well as the twists and turns Ridley Scott brings to the story. While it made a good...
