I used to jolt awake to a blaring phone alarm in total darkness and wonder why I felt awful all day. Switching to a gradual light changed everything about how my brain handles 6 AM in January.

Getting up was only half the battle. By 2 PM I felt like someone unplugged me. These sit on my desk and trick my brain into thinking the sun exists during those gray months.

Flipping on the bathroom light at 6 AM used to feel like staring into the sun after a cave nap. Programmable bulbs let me start dim and ramp up gradually while I brush my teeth.

Bribery works. Knowing a perfectly hot drink is waiting gave me an actual reason to leave the blankets. These made my kitchen the second stop instead of the snooze button.

The cold air hitting my skin when I pulled back the covers was enough to make me burrito myself back in. Having warm layers within arm's reach removed that excuse completely.
