The liner situation was the first thing I fixed. Without a good built-in compression liner, every pair of shorts I owned crept up by mile two. These solved that completely.

I didn't understand the split-hem hype until I tried a pair on a track day. The difference in stride freedom was night and day — my old shorts felt like wearing a potato sack after that.

Nothing makes shorts ride up faster than sweat-soaked fabric clinging to your skin. Once I started prioritizing quick-dry materials, the riding-up problem dropped by like 80 percent.

Elastic-only waistbands were my enemy for years. They'd either dig in or slide down, and both made the fabric bunch. A good drawstring changed everything about how my shorts sat during a run.

After one particularly brutal half marathon left me with raw inner thighs for a week, I started layering compression shorts under everything. Some of these work great on their own too.

Summer running in heavy shorts is a special kind of misery. I nearly passed out on a July run once because my shorts were trapping heat like a greenhouse. Never again.

Rode-up shorts were bad enough, but rode-up shorts while a phone bounced around in a floppy pocket? That was my personal nightmare. These have secure pockets that don't mess with the fit.

Low-rise shorts and I had a bad breakup around 2019. Constantly pulling them up mid-run was driving me insane. High-waisted pairs fixed the sliding problem and weirdly improved my posture too.

Figured cheap shorts meant guaranteed chafing and riding up. Was completely wrong about a few pairs that outperformed shorts I paid three times as much for.

Road running shorts on a rocky trail was a mistake I made exactly once. Branches caught the fabric, mud weighed them down, and everything rode up within the first mile.

Wearing tight running shorts while stretching and foam rolling was making my cool-down miserable. Looser recovery shorts made post-run feel like a reward instead of a chore.
