This is my 4th year raising chickens so I'm sharing my knowlege with a list for first time chicken keepers and one for non-necessities.

Grab the big bag because they'll eat and waste it.
DuMOR 20% Chick Starter/Grower Poultry Feed, 50 lb.
If the budget allows, grab the large poultry waterer because you will be getting one later anyways. Adjust the height as they get older so they don't kick dirt in it.
Harris Farms 5 gal. Double-Wall Poultry Drinker
You only need one waterer, but this one will keep you from refilling constantly and so much waste from the chicks. If space permits and budget isn't tight.

Cute chicken waterer needs the bottle attachment, but I've found that some reusable jars fit it also.

Another remedy to watering chickens; use any container you already have, drill holes and screw these in. They are reusable, but I have found that they leak if the holes aren't drilled perfect.
