Staedtler is my favorite brand of colored pencils, the rich colors stay vibrant and the hardness level is my preferred amount.

Coloured pencils

This ink has versatile, vibrant, sparkling color. It is waterproof and I use it for drawing and painting but haven't tried it for calligraphy.

Iridescent Calligraphy Color

Watercolor paper is my favorite surface to draw on with a variety of media. It can create a lot of effects and textures. The thickness assuages some of my ripping and bending fears.

Black mixed media paper for the win. This paper is an easy way to make high contrast or drawings, or to just give yourself something different if you mainly use white drawing paper.

Pilot makes pens with archival ink. I like the feeling of their flow and the richness of the ink. You don't have to get fancy all the time when making art, just make sure your supplies are made to last time.
