Before I found the right system, I was just winging it and wondering why nothing stuck. These gave me an actual framework instead of a vague idea of what clean should look like.

Week one is always kitchen and dining for me. This zone used to take five hours until I stopped using the wrong products on the wrong surfaces.

Week two tackles bathrooms and one extra room. I have two full baths and a half bath, and they used to break me every single time.

Week three hits bedrooms and closets. Realized most of my bedroom mess wasn't dirt — it was stuff without a home just piling up on every flat surface.

Week four covers living areas and entryways. Dust was my nemesis here — I'd clean on Saturday and see a visible layer by Wednesday on every dark surface.

Every zone has floors, and I used to drag out the same mop for tile, hardwood, and laminate like that was fine. Spoiler — it wasn't fine at all.

Learned the hard way that zone cleaning doesn't work if every zone is stuffed with junk. Had to purge before the system could actually function.

Hauling supplies room to room was killing my momentum — I'd get to Zone 2 and realize the glass cleaner was still in Zone 1 and just. stop.

Every single zone has mirrors or windows, and streaks were making freshly cleaned rooms still look dirty. Drove me absolutely crazy.

Laundry kept bleeding into every zone because clothes end up everywhere. Finally gave it structure instead of just running loads whenever I remembered.

Clean rooms that smell stale still feel dirty to me. Figured out how to keep zones smelling fresh during the three weeks between their deep cleans.

The system only works if you actually do it every week. Fell off the wagon twice before finding ways to hold myself accountable without an app pinging me constantly.
