Every video call made me look like I was filming a horror movie from my basement. Swapping out the overhead light for these warm, intentional sources fixed my whole face on camera — my manager actually asked if I'd been sleeping better.

Blank walls behind you on video calls scream ‘I moved in yesterday.’ Finding pieces that read well on a small Zoom rectangle took trial and error — too busy looks chaotic, too minimal looks empty.

Before these, my desk had a pile system — important pile, less important pile, mystery pile. Everything was visible on camera and I'd frantically shove stuff into drawers before every call.

Weirdly, the tiniest things get the most comments. A cool clock, a nice mug — these are the pieces that make someone stop and say wait, what is that behind you.

The shelf behind me was empty for months and it haunted every call. Filling it right — not too cluttered, not too bare — was the final piece that made people start asking for the full tour.
