I showed up in dark jeans my first day and almost passed out by noon. The museum is massive, partly open-air, and the Giza plateau sun is no joke. These kept me comfortable for eight-hour days.

My phone died at 1 PM on day one. Right in front of Tutankhamun's gold mask. I could have cried. These items prevented every repeat disaster.

Between the museum's outdoor terraces and walking to the pyramids afterward, I got more sun exposure than a full beach day. My forehead peeled for a week because I underestimated it.

Nobody warned me that Cairo traffic could turn a 20-minute drive into 90 minutes. Getting there smoothly made the whole day better.

I made the mistake of eating only at the museum cafe and spent too much on a mediocre sandwich. These spots nearby were so much better and worth the short ride.

The museum alone took me about five hours, which left the rest of the day wide open. Combining it with these made the trip feel complete instead of rushed.
