Unfortunately, theft is a very real situation during training so being able to lock up your stuff is imperative. Also, if the cadre catch your locker unlocked, they will throw your stuff all over the ground.

Ziploc bags help with organization in their rucks, as well as helping them keep things dry in their pockets when they’re out in the field. I recommend the zipper kind because they are easier for the troops to use when they have gloves on.

Basic training is exceedingly hard on the trainees, send as many letters as you can. I wrote a letter every single day. My husband was there, and he wrote me a letter every single day as well. Send notebooks!

I really cannot stress how much your soldier will be missing home while they are gone. I sent a few photos in almost every letter. I sent my husband while he was gone. He said they helped him so so much while he was gone to be strong.

If your soldier is married they will not be allowed to wear their metal wedding bands for safety purposes. My husband still wanting to wear a ring so he requested silicone wedding bands be sent to him. I would send 2-3 in case one gets lost or damage...
