These are some of my favorite old school spooky movies. A lot are considered classics some definitely aren’t even Halloween movies per se.

Actual Halloween Movies
These are movies that every Halloween I looked forward to watching. Some might say they are classics.
Definitely one of my favorites
as a child .. told you I was the weird kid. There are parts that still make me laugh or stick with me and will pop into my head from time to time. The guy that was flat from being run over, the shrunken head dude, or t...
Beetlejuice
Obviously you need these classics in your collection. You can’t think about Halloween and not Halloween lol
Halloween Trilogy (Halloween / Kills / Ends) DVD
I swear if you were a magical or moody teen in the late 90s early 2000’s this is your favorite classic Halloween movie.
The Craft [Blu-ray]
Realizing all my favorite childhood movies have a theme! Some people watch their favorite holiday movies from their childhood well this is my favorite holiday movie.
Sleepy Hollow (1999) (BD) [Blu-ray]
I’m going to be so real with you; I don’t love this one. I just like it. I really only watched it because Frank Iero of My Chemical Romance has a song in it.
Frankenweenie [Blu-ray]
So a little lore about me I was banned from watching this as little kid because it made me cry. 🤷🏻♀️ I have no idea why, my parents said it just made me incredibly sad.
It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown
I guess if I’m covering classics I can’t leave out the other magic classic! Sorry you’re not going to see Hocus Pocus in my list I never watched it.
Practical Magic [DVD]
The made like 8 of these idk they aren’t that good. But as a kid this was pretty creepy.
Leprechaun
Creepy Movies
These are the movies that maybe spooked me but are not necessarily Halloween related.
This is the ultimate “kids” 80s classic. I watched this way too young, there are scenes that still bug me out. I do hate the awful tropes in it but this is the one that shaped me for good or bad as a paranormal loving kid.
Poltergeist (25th Anniversary Deluxe Edition)
Don’t feed them after midnight!! I have not watched this in a hundred years maybe it’s time, but maybe it’s time.
Gremlins [Blu-ray]
I’m a vintage black and white movie girl so of course I’m going to recommend the Universal Monster Collection!
Universal Classic Monsters 6-Movie Collection DVD
This one definitely scarred me and scared me. Ok maybe messed me up…
The Shining [DVD]
Ok talk about movies that messed you up and you should not have watched so young. This one single handedly gave me nightmares for months.
The Fly [1986] [DVD] : Movie
This didn’t scare me but was super inventive for its time.
Watch The Blair Witch Project | Prime Video
Yet another watched way to young and gave me nightmares. Also the first film I genuinely understood & realized what empathy was.
Watch Pet Sematary | Prime Video
Not Specifically Halloween
Ok some movies have absolutely nothing to do with Halloween but just fit. You know what I mean?
Idk why but I can and do quote this movie with regularity. Another classic I’m sure this did not age well.
Ghostbusters [Blu-ray]
More kid lore about me is that I actually hated ET as a kid. I’m not going to lie I still don’t love it. But everyone else thinks it’s a classic so you should give it a try.
E.T. 2-DISC LIMITED COLLECTOR'S EDITION
My all time favorite movie from my childhood that I watched just as much as Spaceballs or The Last Unicorn! Not a Halloween but it’s a murder mystery so close … I guess? And I’d also be sure to watch any movie with Tim Curry.
Clue: The Movie
This movie is peak 80s humor that I am so sure it did not stand up to the test of time.
The Witches of Eastwick (Keepcase)
I 100% had forgotten this existed until I looked up Witches of Eastwick. Im not sure how I could forget Goldie Hawn with a hole in her? Again the humor is probably going to make you uncomfortable.
Death Becomes Her - Full Frame Edition [DVD]
Weirdest movie ever but it’s a cult classic that you need to watch. And you’ll definitely ask yourself why you subjected yourself to it. If it had John Candy in it I was watching it as a kid.
Little Shop of Horrors: The Director's Cut + Theatrical (Blu-ray)
Does this count as a Halloween movie? Idc I’m in including it anyway. I thought this was an interesting take on the books.
Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events
This was another interesting one I forgot about. At the time it was creepy kind of tame now.
What Lies Beneath (DVD, 2001) for sale online
Ok not going to lie it’s not a great movie but it does the best job covering high strangeness that happened around mothman.
