Museums
There are so many great museums to see and I can’t recommend just one
Hazy in my opinion is by far the best air and space. They have the space shuttle, the Concorde, and Amelia Earheart’s fight suit! First pic I took.
Steven F Udvar-Hazy Center
This place is beautiful & hot. If you like flowers and plants you need to go. Heck even if you don’t you will like all the near plants!
United States Botanic Garden
This houses some of the most impressive art I’ve ever seen! They have folk, modern, and 13-16 century art and the official Presidential portraits!
National Gallery of Art
Another must see art gallery in DC
National Portrait Gallery
I need you to go in with an open mind. It is everything and nothing of what you imagined it to be. It’s a little pricey and the set up is terrible. However once you get past the first room it’s awesome! My 15 & 17 year olds loved it.
International Spy Museum
We absolutely never miss a chance to come to the American history museum. We’ve been so often we know exactly how to get to our favorite exhibits: Dorothy’s shoes, Abe’s hat, Civil War & First Wives dresses. We love it when new items are added it...

Food
My favorite spots to eat in DC
My teens & I had breakfast here before the Cathedral opened. We all had waffles, which were amazing. They weren’t crispy, but not floppy either. They were very dense & filling. Loved this place and will definitely be back again. I took the fi...
Open City at the National Cathedral is a quiet cafe on The Close
We didn’t get fish but we did get vegan soft served that can in a fish shaped “cone.” It was delicious!
Fat Fish
The croissants are to die for!
My husband says everything is excellent!
BISTRO DU JOUR
My family whose meals consist of chicken tenders and Caesar salad salads 1000% recommends this restaurant.
The oysters & filet were to die for! The waitress was attentive and wanted to bring out my son a birthday cake. He politely declined but ...
Old Ebbitt Grill | Washington, DC Restaurant & Bar
Not a chili fan but my husband raves about how good this place is. Also has a lot of interesting history.
Ben's Chili Bowl
Other Cool Places
Again there are so many places to hit these are a few of my must sees
This is more than just the place Lincoln was shot. They also have an amazing assortment of history exhibits on Lincoln’s presidency & the Civil War.
Ford's Theatre
I’m a huge architecture fan not religious but this cathedral is stunning and has so much history. First two pics I took.
National Cathedral
Ok I’m sure you’re wondering why I added an airport. It’s not because the airport is cool. However if you head towards the Udvar Hazy Museum entrance there is a spot just in front of it where you can pull. over to watch arrivals and departures from D...
Washington Dulles Internati…
We enjoyed meandering through sculptures/garden
Hirshhorn Museum-Sculpture Garden
I know this isn’t original but it’s one of my favorite spots to look down the mall to the Capitol. A stroll through the mall is also nice. Little places for refreshments and the Vietnam Memorial isn’t that far of a walk
Lincoln Memorial
We enjoy walking around the Jefferson in the Spring. You can rent kayaks too!
Thomas Jefferson Memorial
This is on my list for next trip to DC. Live music is my favorite!!
Black Cat
Tours
A great way to see as much of DC as possible. You can get on and off as much as you want. Take this one at night to see some of the memorials under the stars.

You get “free” headphones for the automated tour. My kids really liked the tours. You were able to get off at several stops. Worth the money.
