Dystopian Tales - Life after it all ends…
Heartfelt Fiction
Came across this book last year, long before the movie. I never imagined crying over a book with an octopus as one of its main characters.
Remarkably Bright Creatures | Barnes & Noble®
I loved this book. I had to Google it to find out if it was based on a true story. Such believable characters, so well-written. I could hear the music.
Daisy Jones & The Six: Reese's Book Club Novel
I enjoyed the complicated characters. Characters had depth and an arc, and despite deep flaws I found myself rooting for them. I have never played tennis, I don’t watch the sport, but I loved this book!
Amazon.com: Carrie Soto Is Back: A Novel
This one had me guessing until the very end. I didn’t know if it was sci-if time travel thing, or what was happening!
My Husband's Wife by Alice Feeney | Goodreads
If you like dystopian fiction, this has an interesting perspective. I enjoyed the complex characters and how everything wasn’t as it seemed.
Our Missing Hearts by Celeste Ng | Goodreads
I loved the unusual narrative of this novel, told through letters. You might think that would be limiting, yet you get to know all the characters and how their lives intersect in such an interesting way.
The Correspondent: A Novel by Virginia Evans
This was a heartfelt, poignant read that reminded me of A Man Called Otto… sort of. It is a slow build, but worth the journey.
Theo of Golden: A Novel by Allen Levi
I LOVED this book (and not just because I live in Missouri). There are so many lovable, yet flawed characters. You’ll find yourself rooting for people on both sides. I laughed, I cried, I was horrified, and enraged… Felt all the feels! You should def...
All the Colors of the Dark by Chris Whitaker | Goodreads
As always—the book is BETTER! So even if you saw the series, this worth a read. I love a book that will make me feel alllllll the feels. This one does.
Lessons in Chemistry: A Novel: Garmus, Bonnie
If you like characters with depth, if you want to cry, read this! I loved this book. This was definitely not a surprise—it is 100% about the beautiful ride. Loved it.
My Friends by Fredrik Backman
Will she? Won’t she? Should she? What would you do? Love is complex. Life is unpredictable. This was a good one!
One True Loves: A Novel - Taylor Jenkins Reid
Non-fiction
This is unlike any relationship book I have ever read. It is really helpful for seeing what you can and can’t do to improve your relationship. It is enlightening and empowering.
It Takes One to Tango: How I Rescued My Marriage
This is my ALL TIME FAVORITE nonfiction book. I go back to it again and again. If you need help making a big decision, weighing your options, choosing your next move, you MUST read this book.
It is so insightful and gives PRACTICAL steps to help you...
Decisive: How to Make Better Choices
This helped me after my father passed suddenly from cancer. His diagnosis was an unexpected shock and he passed just 38 days later, though we thought we would have months with him.
The journal helps you get your feelings out and helps process.
How to Carry What Can't Be Fixed
Murderrrrr
I knew there was a twist, but I didn’t see this one coming! If you like dark, murder mysteries, you should give this one a read.
Never Lie (English Edition) eBook by McFadden
You like twists and turns? Do you enjoy wondering what will happen next and how things will resolve? This one is for you.
Wrong Place Wrong Time: A Novel - NYT Bestseller
This was inspired by the JonBenét Ramsey case… I don’t want to spoil the ending, but I will just say—you will have opinions!
All Good People Here by Ashley Flowers
This was a good book, with a mystery I couldn’t quite solve til about 2/3 in. I wasn’t 100% satisfied BUT if you don’t overthink or over analyze, and just go along for the ride, it will entertain you.
Local Woman Missing: A Novel of Domestic Suspense
What you meed to know about me—I watch Forensic Files, 20/20, and Dateline. I also love horror movies, even though you always know how it will end. I love the ride. This is a good one. Even if you solve the mystery, it’s an enjoyable ride.
A Flicker in the Dark by Stacy Willingham
Drama
I loved the characters in this one! And if you read this, you must read The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo too! This was a good one, one I didn’t want to end.
Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid
I honestly didn’t expect to like this as much as I did. If you like strong women characters, defying the odds, and history, you will love this one too!
The Nightingale: A Novel - Hannah, Kristin: Books
This was an unusual book for me, but I enjoyed it. It’s a contemporary reimagining of Charles Dickens's David Copperfield (which I probably read in school but don’t remember).
Demon Copperhead: A Pulitzer Prize Winner
I loved this book. If you have ever doubted yourself. Ever let your past unduly impact your present, ever had imposter syndrome, I suspect you will love it too. So so good. I highly recommend!
Educated by Tara Westover
This has Saving Private Ryan level graphic violence, but it was a perspective I hadn’t considered previously—that of the women there, and the trauma they too suffered. I wouldn’t describe it as a feel good book, but it was eye opening and felt real. ...
The Women: A Novel - Hannah, Kristin: Books
There were a few times I was frustrated by the characters’ choices, but still, enjoyed the ride. Definitely suspenseful, with plenty of feels, too.
The Five Year Lie: Psychological Thriller
This mystery took a while to solve, but it was so fun trying to piece it together. Some really great characters with depth. Worth the ride.
The God of the Woods: A Novel - Liz Moore
I will be honest, I didn’t love the ending BUT I enjoyed the ride. And the fact it takes place in the same universe as Malibu Rising, which I loved. So I still recommend this!
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo: A Novel - Books
I was definitely frustrated by the characters’ choices in this—they were undeniably the authors of their own miseries. BUT I still enjoyed it, the longing, the waiting, the wondering… it was good even if it wasn’t what I wanted.
28 Summers: Hilderbrand, Elin - Books
This was a twisty turny journey. Tragic at times. Empowering at others. Great exploration of different perspectives of the same situation.
A Grown-Up Kind of Pretty by Joshilyn Jackson
Family is hard. Complicated. This felt genuine. It wasn’t terribly difficult to put the pieces together, but still enjoyable! Definitely worth a read!
Between Sisters by Kristin Hannah
Loved this book! Tragic and beautiful story about impossible choices and never giving up.
The Four Winds: A Novel - Hannah, Kristin: Books
