I have developed a massive book collection over the years. But I've pared it down to just the necessities- this list is just one shelf!
I think I bought this in a charity shop. I finf myself picking up books about economics on the odd occasion and this one caught my eye. It is bit more detailed and interesting- more real world than the usual economics fare.
How to Thrive in the Next Economy
I have no idea where I got this from. I think it came about during the tail end of my interest in neuropsychology? Heavy going but not dull.
The Emperor's New Mind: Computers & Physics
I didn't really understand what anxiety was despite close family having severe issues with it. So I tried to read around the subject and get different perspectives. This was very good.
The Meaning of Anxiety
Again picked up in one of my economics phases. I think it came from trying to understand the role of money in the world.
What Money Can't Buy: The Moral Limits of Markets
Again, trying to understand the more emotional people in my life. It takes more than one book for that! One aspect of the study of the emotions.
The Emotional Brain: Underpinnings of Emotion
Hard to get into but worth it in the end.
Uncommon Wisdom: Conversations with People
Maybe a bit more fringe than some but I think it's important to get a wide range of perspectives. Does need to be taken with a pinch of salt.
Body Mind Mastery
Somewhat discredited theory but people do experience the world in different ways. And even small paragraph in an otherwise meh book can send you in an improved direction.
Top Brain, Bottom Brain: Harnessing Power
The original text that put the grieving process into the spotlight. Has been widely misinterpreted so always best to read the original.
On Grief and Grieving
I think this one is due for a re-read as I cannot remember the specifics. But I do remember thinking there were very insightful passages in this book.
