Museums from my travels and ones I hope to go back to soon.
Map
Probably my favourite museum of all. The garden is lovely for a stroll and the museum feels like walking around someone's very arty home.
Musée Rodin
Continuing on with Paris museums, this is the one where I fell in love with the Chareau library.
Musée des Arts Décoratifs
A small museum mostly focused on fishing and oil exploration. Has had some really interesting exhibitions in the past. The permanent displays are fascinating, I particularly like the draughting office with its massive desk with its graffiti.
Aberdeen Maritime Museum
The museum itself may be a tad on the esoteric side but worth it for the thought provoking nature of some of the displays. Very nice grounds to stroll in.
Irish Museum of Modern Art
A striking building from the outside where the modern wing definitely stands out. The exhibitions are great and very well though out but the highlight is the roof terrace. It gives almost 360 degree views of Edinburgh including Arthur's Seat.
National Museum of Scotland
I've been visiting this museum for a very long time, I used to take my brother when he was small. A much more traditional museum at the time, it has since been renovated.
National Museum of Ireland - Natural History
A small but perfectly formed display of Dali's oeuvre. A good introduction to Dali and not too overwhelming.
Dali Museum
Worth a visit for the building itself. They tend to get the visiting exhibitions like Da Vinci. They also have an excellent Dali.
Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum
Another one where some people go just to see the building. The V and A Dundee is on the waterfront and is reminiscent of a ship. Inside the museum is small but encapsulates Scottish design very well.
V&A Dundee
The V and A is a very large scale museum and may be best visiting for specific exhibitions. I really enjoyed the dress exhibition they had a few years ago as well as a botanical illustration display. Something for everyone.
