As a Bath Co resident of 20 years, and a small business owner of a lodging establishment and restaurant, I love to give recs on what to see, do, and dine in and around our area. We live in a nature lover’s paradise that is straight out of a Norman Ro...

I am biased, so I’ll just say come see for yourself why we have been voted one of the best places for fine dining and cocktails in this region of Virginia.
Waterwheel Restaurant
A beloved cafe by locals and visitors alike. This season cafe sits above a wonderful art gallery with thoughtfully curated pieces. Grab a handmade sandwich, a glass of wine, and enjoy this little village eatery.
Warm Springs Gallery & Garden Cafe
On Mondays and Tuesdays this is a great stop to grab dinner, but also a nice spot for lunch any day of the week. They have a super small menu. I like the Brie and Onion pizza
Milk House Market at Old Dairy
Bath Co: we have one brewery…but it’s actually pretty good. And good pub fare too!
Bacova Beer Company
Things to Do
“Taking the waters” is a centuries old tradition once enjoyed by Thomas Jefferson. The natural spring pools are 98 degrees year round and offer folks a chance to float under the open air roof while letting their cares float away. To note, reservation...
Warm Springs Pools
Hands down my favorite lake in Virginia due to the crystal clear blue/green water. This is a man made damn controlled lake that is lower in the winter. In the summer months is perfect for swimming, paddle boarding, and kayaking. There are no homes on...
Lake Moomaw | Virginia DWR
Farm cidery with a rustic cider barn. Very vibey and fun on a Friday night.
Troddenvale
Spend the day in this adults only oasis! There is a fee but it’s worth it in IMO to enjoy a luxurious spa garden complete with hot tub, heated pool, mineral soaking spring, and sauna and steam room access. You get a locker, robe, and sandals too! Pl...
The Spa at The Omni Homestead Resort
Technically, technically, this waterfall isn’t in Bath Co, but it’s just over the border, so I’m counting it! A beautiful and HUGE waterfall! No hiking around the fall as it’s on private property but there is an overlook and it’s beautiful!
Falling Spring Falls - Virginia State Parks
Shopping
This cute women’s boutique just moved to their new location on cottage row in Hot Springs. A great stop for clothes and accessories.
Laura's Boutique/Laura's Loft | Hot Springs VA
Jewelry, leather goods, cards, candles, artisanal gifts, you’ll find all that and more here!
The Sparrow's Nest
Hiking
A great place for hiking, biking, and fishing! You can also visit Warickton, a famous mansion where the movie Somersby was filmed. I like the Jackson River Loop and Lost Woman Trail.
Hidden Valley Recreation Area
One of Virginia’s best state parks, Douthat (pronounced Dow-th-at) has a wonderful selection of hikes plus a small lake for fishing or paddle boarding/kayaking
Douthat State Park
If you want views do the Flag Rock trail. There is a small gazebo on the top of Warm Springs Mountain. You’ll see views of all the areas mountain ranges!!
