This is widely considered the gold standard for authentic Mexican in Sydney. They focus on corn dishes like tetelas, enmoladas, and chilaquiles. It’s sophisticated but casual enough and you’ll feel like your having brunch in Oaxaca.
MAIZ
No-frills, hole-in-the-wall spot. It’s the place to go for actual tamales, gorditas, and street-style tacos. It doubles as a deli, so you can pick up chiles, tortillas, salsas and and snacks. The gorditas are my favorite.
The Tamaleria & Mexican Deli
This place focuses on Southern Mexican (Oaxacan) cuisine. It’s a bit more "dine-in" than a taqueria, and a great mezcal selection.
