This is a random collection of fantasy books about sirens that i like. I like all instances of fantasy but since its a broad category you need to start somewhere.
This is the gold standard for "deadly siren" tropes. Princess Lira is a siren who collects the hearts of princes. When she’s cursed into human form by the Sea Queen, she has to hunt down a siren-hunting prince. It’s sharp, snarky, and incredibly fast...
To Kill a Kingdom
A newer favorite. It features a siren assassin living in a world where her kind is feared and hunted. The "black-ops" vibe mixed with a forbidden romance makes this an addictive "one-sitting" read.
Sing Me to Sleep
If you want something moody and atmospheric, this is it. It’s a dark fantasy about a siren fleeing a cruel king and finding an unlikely bond with a brooding, "self-righteous" ruler. The prose is lush and the romance is a slow-burn win.
In the Veins of the Drowning
Part of the Married to Magic series, this is great if you love the "fated mates" trope. It’s a standalone that blends high fantasy world-building with a very sweet, high-stakes romance.
A Duet with the Siren Duke
My personal favorite in this list. The main character is a siren, but the story feels more like a supernatural mystery/romance. It’s famous for its "morally grey" love interest and the sheer number of "favors" the protagonist owes him.
Rhapsodic (The Bargainer #1)
This is "Jaws" but with sirens. A mock-documentary crew goes looking for sirens in the Mariana Trench and... they find them. These aren't beautiful women; they are apex predators. It is terrifying and brilliant.
Into the Drowning Deep
A short, punchy novella that is pure "femgore" horror. It follows a voiceless mermaid/siren and a plague doctor walking through a world that is literally rotting. The imagery is grotesque and beautiful at the same time.
The Salt Grows Heavy|Signed Book
From the author of Weyward, this is a dual-timeline story about sisters bound by the sea. It leans into the "folk horror" side of sirens—mysterious disappearances, strange skin conditions, and the power of the ocean.
The Sirens: A Novel|BN Exclusive
A stunning West African-inspired reimagining of The Little Mermaid. Simi is a Mami Wata (siren/mermaid) who collects the souls of those lost at sea. It’s a beautiful, heart-wrenching adventure through Yoruba mythology.
Skin of the Sea
Set in a modern-day Portland where sirens are real but heavily policed. It’s a powerful allegory for race and the "silencing" of Black women’s voices. It’s contemporary fantasy with a huge heart.
A Song Below Water: A Novel
Based on the Hugo-winning song by Clipping., this tells the story of the water-breathing descendants of pregnant African women thrown overboard during the slave trade. It’s a heavy, beautiful meditation on memory and trauma.
The Deep
This is the perfect "popcorn" read. Alosa is a pirate captain who intentionally gets herself captured to search an enemy ship for a hidden map. The twist? She’s half-siren, and while she’s playing a game of cat-and-mouse with the ship’s first mate, s...
Daughter of the Pirate King (Daughter of the Pirate King Series #1)
From the author of The Selection, this is a more melancholy, romantic take. Sirens are "sisters" who serve the Ocean by singing people to their deaths. It’s less about blood and more about the loneliness of immortality.
The Siren
This is Book 1 of a trilogy. It’s rare because it features a male perspective—Tristan, a lifeguard who discovers he’s the heir to a supernatural sea kingdom. It’s gritty, urban, and feels very much like a "guy’s guide to becoming a siren/merman."
The Vicious Deep (Vicious Deep Series #1)
A Greek mythology retelling inspired by The Odyssey. Every year, twelve maidens are sacrificed to the sea to appease Poseidon—until one of them survives. It’s a tragic, sapphic fantasy about breaking ancient cycles of violence.
