OR Care Partners is a great resource as they have free training for family and professional caregivers. This is a great place for out of staters to look as well. They provide great outlines and it's applicable to anyone that cares for a loved one in their home.

This group does a great job supporting families on a grassroots level. With the growing number of memory related conditions, this group is able to provide support groups, education, and provide a caregiver help line - I really like the help line because there is often a guilt of leaving a loved one to go do anything for... This way, there is always someone just a call away.

AARP provides tools and workshops for family caregivers. I think this a really great place to start and get a nice overview. Plus it's a name everyone is familiar with. This is helpful for those living in ANY part of the United States

I really like this nonprofit because it is a non national one. It is VERY local. That mixed with the increase in Parkinson's diagnosis makes this one close to my heart. Due to the critical timing of medications, this can be a very tough disease for families to manage. The teams at Parkinson's resources are wonderful and I highly recommend connecting with them even at early stages.

Burnout is huge in this space. It is easy to read a list of services, but a much large action to utilize them. While many people figure out what is right to them, they are burning out in the process. Just like when they tell us on a plane to put your oxygen mask on first before you help others, you will not be a good caregiver to your family if you burn out. Please take care of yourself
